
Mater Dei senior pitcher/outfielder Ty Moore is 2012 Gatorade California Baseball Player of the Year, it was announced today. Gatorade made the selection in collaboration with ESPN.
Moore, who signed with UCLA and can be expected to be selected inthe MLB draft next week, as a pitcher this season went 12-1 with a 0.83 ERA and 71 strikeouts. He batted .406 with 23 RBIs.
Moore was the Orange County player of the year in 2011.
Mater Dei lost to Newbury Park on Tuesday in the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 semifinals.
