A trio of former Orange County high school standouts have been selected to the 2012 U.S. Olympic women’s water polo team, USA Water Polo announced Thursday in Los Angeles.

The players are attacker Courtney Mathewson (Canyon), pictured middle, goalie Tumua Anae (Corona del Mar), far left, and center Annika Dries (Laguna Beach), far right.

All three are first-time Olympians.

Congrats to all three players, who are not only talented but good character people and leaders.

And congrats to the high schools and club programs that helped develop these players.

UC Irvine women’s coach Dan Klatt, the former co-coach at Foothill, is an assistant to Coach Adam Krikorian.
