The 2011-12 school year is coming to a close, so we’re nearing the time to select the Orange County Athletes of the Year.

OCVarsity and the Register each year select a male and female winner. Unlike some other organizations, we do not insist that our selections be seniors or were their leagues’ athletes of the year.

We also will have voting for the OCVarsity Fans’ Athletes of the Year, where you will get to make the choice. Voting is expected to begin late next week.

For now, however, we want you to let us know what athletes you think should be considered. Is there a dominant one-sport athlete worthy of the award? Are you more of a traditionalist who thinks a multi-sport star should get the nod?
