Boys soccer: Lussier out at Servite

May 8th, 2012, 4:49 pm · · posted by

Mike Lussier, who guided Servite to the CIF-SS Division 1 quarterfinals this past season, is no longer the boys soccer coach, he said Tuesday.

Lussier said he could not comment further because he is still under contract with the school as a science teacher.

This past season, the Friars were ranked No. 1 in the CIF-SS Division 1 polls for most the of the season after winning the Aliso Cup soccer tournament this past December.

He clinched his second league championship at the school, the Friars’ first in the Trinity League, when Servite beat host St. John Bosco in February. It was the first league title for the school in boys soccer since 2004 when the Friars were in the Serra League.

Lussier began coaching the varsity team at the school in the winter of  1998, and during his career at Servite he won 223 games, sent 22 players on to Division 1 programs and watched Chris Pontius become a defender in the MLS for the DC United.
