Girls swim: Top freestyler leaves No. 8 Mission Viejo

Mission Viejo senior distance freestyler Olivia Hughes has left Mission Viejo’s No. 8-ranked girls swim team, Diablos coach Jeff Boss reports.

Hughes “quit the squad after the Laguna Hills’ meet in late February, Boss said in an e-mail Tuesday. The Diablos have since went 3-2 in dual meets, including a 104-66 loss Tuesday against No. 9 Aliso Niguel.

Hughes finished 12th in the 500 freestyle (5:02.52) at the Division 1 finals last season.
