Boys volleyball: Showdown Tuesday

April 3rd, 2012, 1:22 pm · · posted by

Another big night of action on the court. Here is a quick look at what’s on tap.

No. 7 Dana Hills plays host to No. 2 San Clemente: The teams have split their season series in each of the previous two seasons, and in both seasons, the Dolphins have gone on to win the South Coast League title. Both teams are 3-0 in the league.

No. 5 Newport Harbor visits No. 4 Huntington Beach: Both teams are 3-0, but it took the Sailors a while to get there. Newport Harbor had to rally from an 0-2 hole to defeat Los Alamitos in five last Friday. Meanwhile, the Oilers have swept their three matches.

Also on the schedule: No. 1 Servite at No. 10 Santa Margarita. The Friars went 3-0 last week, sweeping St. John Bosco and Mater Dei before rallying to defeat Redondo in five. The Eagles went 1-1, defeating JSerra in four and losing to St. John Bosco in five. Servite has a two-match lead over Santa Margarita and St. John Bosco (2-2) in the Trinity League. Can anybody catch the Friars.

JSerra at No. 8 Mater Dei:  Talk about a big match. The Monarchs , who went 0-2 last week will host JSerra tonight. The Lions are 1-3, their league victory came against Orange Lutheran, one match after the Lancers had defeated the Monarchs.

Start time for both is approximately 6 p.m. Should be a fun night.
