OC Varsity ~ High school sports talk by the staff of the Orange County Register

Update on Orange Lutheran’s search for football coach

February 2nd, 2012, 8:05 am · · posted by

Nosing around the Orange Lutheran gym last night while covering the Mater Dei-OLu boys basketball game, this was the talk about the head coaching position at Lutheran following the reassignment of Jim Kunau, who had been the school’s football coach for 19 seasons …

There are 50 applicants for the position.

Former Lutheran assistant coach Brent Vieselmeyer, now the head coach at Valor Christian in Colorado and still a popular name at OLu, is not among the applicants, and neither is former OLu assistant coach/athletic director Rod Sherman, also at Valor Christian these days.

Matt Logan is staying at Centennial of Corona. OLu alum and longtime assistant football coach Mike Crawford, who has not pursued head coaching opportunities elsewhere in recent years, has applied for the OLu head coaching job.

And we are working on getting the IDs of some of those other applicants.
