Girls soccer: Thursday’s recap (1-26-12)

It was another busy day on soccer fields throughout the county. Here is a look at some of Thursday’s results.

 

In the Trinity League:

Rosary 2, JSerra 0: Tayler Dragoo scored her county-leading 23rd and 24th goals of the season, as the Royals (10-6-5, 1-4-1) defeated the Lions (6-11-1, 0-4-1) at Fullerton College.

In the Century League:

No. 7 Esperanza 1, Foothill 0: Justine Espinoza scored the lone goal of the match with less than six minutes remaining, as the Aztecs (13-5-4, 6-2) moved into sole possession of first place with a win over the Knights (7-4-8, 3-3-2) at Foothill.

In the Freeway League:

No. 10 Sunny Hills 4, La Habra 0: Maribell Morales scored two goals, as the Lancers (22-1, 6-0) shut down the Highlanders at La Habra.

Troy 8, Buena Park 0: Caitlin Haugen recorded a hat trick, while Natalia Vasco scored twice to lift the Warriors (7-7-3, 4-4-1-1) over the Coyotes at Troy.

In the Empire League:

Yorba Linda 4, Tustin 1: Ashley Webb scored two goals and added an assist to spark the Mustangs (12-9-2, 6-1-1) past the Tillers (10-8-1, 1-7) at Tustin. Emily Shleppey added a goal and an assist for Yorba Linda.

Valencia 2, Kennedy 1: Kierstin Gamba and Alexandra White each scored second half goals to help the Tigers (13-4-3, 6-2) rally past the Fighting Irish (9-10-2, 4-4) at Kennedy.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Woodbridge 3, University 2: Booshie Weddington scored the game-deciding goal in the second half, as the Warriors (4-12-4, 1-4-2) edged the Trojans (6-7-3, 1-5-1) at Las Lomas Community Park in Irvine. Grayson Galbraith and Katie Eisendrath also tallied goals for Woodbridge.

In the Orange League:

Katella 5, Savanna 0: Natalie Camacho scored two goals, while Denise Delgadillo and Karina Qunitero each had a goal and an assist, as the Knights (11-5-2, 5-1) blanked the Rebels (2-9-1, 2-4) at Savanna.

Anaheim 3, Magnolia 0: Rosario Gonzalez scored twice and added an assist to help the Colonists (7-3-3-, 4-1-1) defeat the Sentinels (2-9-2, 1-4-1) at Anaheim.

Santa Ana Valley 2, Century 0: Brenda Chopin and Jessica Reyes scored second half goals in the Falcons (7-11-3, 3-2-1) victory over the Centurions (5-7-3, 1-4-1) at Century.

In the Orange Coast League:

Estancia 1, Godinez 1: Alba Barrios scored the match-tying goal in the second half, as the Eagles (7-7-4, 2-1-3) and Grizzlies (4-6-4, 2-0-4) played to a draw at Centennial Park in Santa Ana.

Saddleback 0, Costa Mesa 0: Maggie Acevedo had 11 saves in the Mustangs (3-10-7, 0-3-3) tie with the Roadrunners (4-12-3, 1-4-2) at Costa Mesa.

In the Golden West League:

Ocean View 3, Westminster 1: Danni Dapello, Joelle Sapia, and Aleanna Vargas scored goals in the Seahawks (15-4-1, 5-0) win over the Lions (6-10-1, 0-5-1) at Ocean View.

Segerstrom 3, Orange 1: Vivian Vega scored her 20th goal of the season to help the Jaguars (10-1-1, 5-0) defeat the Panthers (7-7-3, 5-0) at Fred Kelly Stadium.

Loara 2, Santa Ana 0: Deseree De La Rosa recorded a goal in each half, as the Saxons (11-4-2, 3-3) knocked off the Saints (7-6-2, 3-3) at Loara.
