Servite grad and UCSB standout defender Tim Pontius was selected 33rd overall in MLS Supplemental draft on Tuesday by the Seattle Sounders.

Pontius’ older brother Chris, who also played high school soccer for Servite, is a forward for D.C. United.

During his career with the Gauchos, Tim Pontius became one of the top defenders in the Big Wes. As a sophomore and junior he helped UCSB post goals against averages of 0.75 and 0.77 which ranks among the team’s top 10 all performances.

After his senior season, Pontius was an All-Big West First Team selection and he was also chosen as the team’s defensive MVP. This past season, he had three goals and an assist in 21 games. During his career at UCSB, he played in 62 matches, scoring six goals and assisting on two others.
