Big performances at the CIF State Cross Country Championships helped the Trabuco Hills boys cross country team and Marina senior Laura Hollander advance to the 2011 Nike Cross Nationals, which will be held Saturday at Portland Meadows in Portland, Oregon.
Trabuco Hills qualified automatically for the Nationals after winning the Division 1 state title, their first since 2006. The Mustangs had the fastest overall team time of all teams in all five divisions.
Division 2 state champion Golden Valley also qualified. Arcadia and Rancho Cucamonga, which finished second and third respectively behind Trabuco Hills, earned at-large entries.
Hollander, the only individual country runner selected to compete, finished second in Division 1 with a time of 17:32. Her time was the fastest among all county runners in all five divisions and was the fifth best overall.
