Garden Grove League
RANCHO ALAMITOS (8-1, 4-0) VS. LOS AMIGOS (8-1, 4-0)
Where, when: Garden Grove High, Thursday, 7 p.m.
Outlook: For the past couple of years, Garden Grove has been on top of the Garden Grove League. Now, it’s like the 1990s again – Rancho Alamitos vs. Los Amigos for the league championship.
Those teams ran the heck out of the football, and these teams can run it, too – Rancho’s Brett Hurley is averaging 121 rushing yards a game, and has run for 18 touchdowns, and Los Amigos’ Jerry Saldivar is averaging 80 rushing yards a game and has run for 14 touchdowns. But these teams throw the ball better than those ‘90s outfits. Rancho’s Lincoln Faletoi is averaging 122 passing yards a game, and has 11 touchdown passes. Los Amigos’ Danny Hernandez is averaging 118 passing yards a game and has completed 63 percent of his throws. These games usually are won in the trenches. Both teams are good there. It could be a high-scoring game. Look for Rancho Alamitos to do more of the scoring.
Winner: Rancho Alamitos
