Fryer on football: Magnolia vs. Katella

November 9th, 2011, 5:59 pm · · posted by

Orange League
MAGNOLIA (3-6, 2-2) VS. KATELLA (5-4, 2-2)
Where, when: Glover Stadium, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: This league has been a difficult one to figure out. It looked like Santa Ana Valley might be the best team, but Anaheim beat Valley, and early in league play Anaheim lost to Magnolia. Katella beat Savanna, then Savanna beat Magnolia, and … The playoff picture is equally challenging to digest.

For these two teams, winning this game is a must for the opportunity to play next week. Katella could lose and still have a shot at the Southern Division’s at-large berth, because the Knights would finish with the required .500-or-better record needed for at-large berth consideration. Magnolia does not have that luxury. Katella has shown itself to be the superior team defensively, and that could be the difference here.

Winner: Katella
