Laguna Beach junior running back Drake Martinez (6-2, 185) has been offered by Nebraska, Breakers football coach Mike Churchill confirmed Tuesday morning.
Martinez is the brother of Nebraska sophomore quarterback Taylor Martinez, who played at Centennial Corona.
Martinez has already rushed for 679 yards on only 44 carries for the 4-0 Breakers. That’s an average of 15 yards per carry.
“He’s got great speed,” Churchill said. “That kid is going to play (college) football some place.”
Laguna Beach is running the wing-T under the veteran Churchill.
Martinez plays fullback. Senior halfback Norton Penney has rushed for 415 yards while wing back Robert Clemons, another junior, has rushed for 304 yards.
Laguna Beach plays at Jurupa Hills of Fontana (1-3) on Friday. On Oct. 14, the Breakers play host to Estancia in a key Orange Coast League showdown.
