NO. 8 EDISON (2-0) VS. DANA HILLS (1-1)
Where, when: Dana Hills High, Friday, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Edison went to Maui and beat up on Baldwin of Wailuki, 48-10, then, also as expected, followed up two weeks later with a 27-7 triumph over Garfield of Los Angeles last week. Edison might not be the Pac-5 Division challenger it was two, three years ago but the Chargers still are going to be a factor in the Sunset League, in which Los Alamitos has emerged as the clear favorite. The Chargers have the offensive firepower, with quarterback Chase Favreau (328 yards, four touchdowns, zero inteceptions) and running back Marquis Ross (162 yards, two TDs). Edison receiver Sedric Hill has five receptions over two games, so he is due for a breakout game and that could happen in this matchup. Dana Hills, a bit down from its 2009 and ’10 teams, lost big to Santiago, 53-17, then trounced San Juan Hills, 36-0. Edison likely will be too much for Dana Hills.
Winner: Edison

More football news from the OCVarsity blog:

Edison’s offense has too many weapons for Dana Hills to handle. The Dolphins usually have some pretty good players at the skill positions but they have the same problem Tustin has, they have too many guys going both ways.

Edison also has an upcoming Freshman team. I was at a game last week and saw some huge offensive linemen. One sidliner told me they have a 6’6″ 285lb OL #77 who has never played football before. The comment was “wait til he is junnior”
