Two-time first-team All-County water polo player Alys Williams from Edison has committed to UCLA, the senior-to-be confirmed Wednesday night.
“I’m excited,” she said. “I’ve know I’ve wanted to go there for a while.”
The attacker said she narrowed her college choices to UCLA and Stanford and committed to the Bruins on Tuesday.
Williams is an excellent get for Coach Brandon Brooks. She is a strong outside shooter who brings speed and playmaking skills to the counterattack. She also is a strong defender.
Williams is part of the U.S. national youth team that departs Friday for Hungary. She plays club for Huntington Beach.
UCLA’s recruiting class also includes Corona del Mar senior-to-be goalie Alex Musselman, the first-team All-County goalie last season.
Word is UCLA has a few more commits already, so the Bruins are working on an impressive class.
