Football recruiting: Servite duo commits to BYU

June 30th, 2011, 10:46 am · · posted by

Servite’s Butch Pauu and Jherremya Leuta-Douyere have committed to BYU, Friars football coach Troy Thomas said in a text message Thursday morning.

Pauu (5-11, 215), a senior-to-be linebacker who also plays tight end and quarterback, also had offers from Washington, Iowa State, Nebraska and Oregon State. He was first-team All-County as  junior.

Leuta-Douyere (6-1, 225), a senior-to-be defensive lineman and running back, started strong last season but suffered a season-ending knee injury during the nonleague season.

this is kind of sac religious for two catholic boys to go to a mormon school

  • Dennis Halloran says:

Don’t know if they are catholic, maybe Mormon like their coach
Great choice of BYU as an independent in the next 5 years

Good luck guys! I’m catholic but I figure what the heck! Football is football and BYU has great football.

  • Parker West says:

BYU has had great success signing Catholic kids who find that the same morals they were taught are an important part of a BYU education. A friend just had a son sign with BYU out of a Scottsdale, AZ Catholic school because of the priorities stressed, #1-Spiritual growth #2-Academics #3-Football. A good Catholic will be a better Catholic after 4 years in Provo. They have the guts to suspend their second best basketball player, the day after beating the #3 ranked team in the country. I don’t think any other school would follow through on their standards, blowing a chance to win a national championship.
