Luke Gane‘s dream will come true later this week.
The former Edison lineman and current UCLA tight end, pictured at far left with teammate Jordan Zumwalt, will depart Wednesday for Denver to meet Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, his mother, Tomoko, said in an e-mail.
Gane missed his junior season at Edison because a frightening blood disorder. He battled aplastic anemia, a rare and serious condition in which the body’s bone marrow doesn’t make enough new blood cells.
Gane’s doner turned out to be one of his younger brothers, Jacob, who has a twin, Noah. Gane returned to the field as a senior but was an inspiration long before the fall of 2009.
As a junior, he attended the Fountain Valley-Edison rivalry game and after the Chargers’ victory, the players hoisted Gane – wearing a surgical mask for protection — on their shoulders.
Servite also dedicated its 2008 game against Edison to Gane, who became a standout on and off the field as a senior.
Luke will gain the happiness he deserves…..Go Get ‘em!!!!!!!! Luke….
The Luke Gane story is very inspiring
