

The track and field season continued Saturday for Trabuco Hills senior Jantzen Oshier and JSerra senior Katherine Delaney.
Oshier, who set the county’s all-time 1,600 record last weekend en route to winning the CIF state title, finished fifth (fourth best among American runners) in the addidas Jim Ryun Dream Mile race at the 2011 adidas Grand Prix at Icahn Stadium in Randall’s Island, New York.
The Cal-bound senior, who entered the meet with the fastest mile time in the nation this season (4:06.81 at Arcadia), ran to a lifetime best 4:06.51.
The race winner was Lucas Verzbicas, who became only the fifth prep runner ever to finish the mile in under four minutes (3:59.71). It was also the second straight year that Verzbicas won the Dream Mile race.
Austin Mudd of Center Grove High in Indiana was second (4:01.83), with Loyola senior Elias Gedyon (4:02.08) placing third.
In the girls mile race, Delaney placed 11th overall in a time of 4:51.69.
Harvard-Westlake junior Cami Chapus, who won the 1,600 CIF state title last weekend, won the mile race in a time of 4:42.71.
Eleanor Fulton of Highland Ranch High in Colorado was second in a time of 4:42.90, with Torrey Pines senior Alli Billmeyer coming in third in a time of 4:43.18.
