New Lakers coach Mike Brown has two athletic sons, a sophomore who is a basketball player and an eighth-grader who is a football player.
The sons, according to Mater Dei coach Gary McKnight, will be at Mater Dei on Monday to “shadow” a couple of Mater Dei students — that is, the prospective students go through the day with a Mater Dei student to find out what a day at Mater Dei is like.
Nothing wrong or crazy about all this.Totally legit, legal, clean, etc.
Coach Brown said he is looking for a high school that has high-quality programs in football and basketball.

Mike Brown just told Jim Rome he was interested in Mater Dei on the radio so it is confirmed. It sounded like Kobe was giving him advice on the area.
He should go check out Servite after Mater Dei… It would give him a good laugh after comparing facilities. Mater Dei wins again!!!
Then he should compare the academics at MD compared to Servite and then he really have a good laugh… Expensive athletic facilities doesn’t mean they are a winner, it means there priorities are out of line.
Not the last 2 yrs in football, lol..
Mater Dei football keeps making the playoffs, which is a heck of a good trick in that Trinity League — and MD got to the semis last year, too. Getting to the final four in D1 football is an accomplishment. Yes, the Monarchs have lost two in a row to Servite, but Servite beats a lot of good teams.
Mater Dei, Servite n Orange Lutheran are all great schools. Any school they pick will be a great choice. Good luck n God bless.
Whoa, hold on. Somebody is saying something nice about three different Trinity League schools in the same message? Hope this starts a trend!
I heard Marina has a new head basketball coach? What do you know about him. I heard he was an assistant at Capo.
