Veteran El Toro boys water polo coach Don Stoll has been named the 2011 California Coaches Association Boys Water Polo Coach of the Year, the organization announced.
“This award gives much deserved recognition to your coaching excellence and your professional contributions of times, service and dedication to the profession and athletics,” the organization stated in a letter to Stoll.
Stoll is set to receive the award June 11 in Sacramento.
He has guided the Chargers to seven CIF-Southern Section title in 11 championship game appearances.
Both of Stoll’s sons, Brent, and, Greg, were standout players at El Toro. More info to come.

Congrats Don – Great honor for Don for the year and the ET program. Hopefully, Don will continue coaching and not retire. ET should have another powerful team next year.
Stoll is one of the higher profile and most successful coaches in the county but don’t forget, he started his coaching career at Westminster and Ocean View
He worked hard and paid his dues en route to all his success
And he also has left a legacy of former players who have gone into coaching: McMunn, Danna, Shore and Holbrook
And as upset as he was after the Division 1 final in November, he still calmly answered all the media’s questions afterward and shook off the controversial loss. That showed a lot of class
Absolutely correct with respect to how Stoll composed himself after the ET loss. Players and coaches in many different sports could learn a thing or two about class from that one game.

Additional ET players in the area that have coached or are coaching – Julson, Weathersby, Souza, Tilton to name an additional few that have done well.
Congratulations Coach Stoll! Well earned and deserved. Yes, he did handle last November’s controversial finish with dignity, but that is a microcosm of his overall demeanor.
