Boys golf: This week’s Leaderboard

You can tell the season is almost a month old as several players turned in outstanding performances. One was 4-under for the week and another finished 3-under on what might be the toughest course in the county.

Here’s a look at the week’s top performers

BRIAN CAMPBELL, MATER DEI – The Illinois-bound senior finished 4-under for the week. He finished 3-under at the Diamondback Tournament at Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville. He posted a 2-under 35 at Alta Vista Country Club to help the Monarchs beat Orange Lutheran, 186-202. And then he posted a 1-over 37 at Santa Ana Country Club in a 185-185 loss to Santa Margarita

ANDREW LEVITT, SANTA MARGARITA - He was the medalist in the Eagles’ match against rival Mater Dei, shooting a 3-under 33 on the front nine at Santa Ana Country Club

JORDAN FOX, YORBA LINDA – He posted a 3-udner 33 at Black Gold, but the Mustangs still lost to Servite, 185-203

JESSE HEINRICKS, MARINA – He carded a 3-under 32 at Meadowlark as the Vikings cruised past El Toro, 181-196

SHANE WATHANASAYNEE, LOS ALAMITOS - He finished with a 2-under 34 at Los Verdes as the Griffins beat South Torrance, 185-193

GRANT PRESCOTT, SAN JUAN HILLS – He posted a 2-under 33 at Laguna Woods in the the Stallions’ 185-215 victory against Laguna Hills

KELBY SCHARMAN, SAN JUAN HILLS - He posted a 2-under 33 at Marbella Country Club as the Stallions edged Tesoro, 197-198.

PRESTON VALDER, SERVITE - He shot a 1-under 35 at Black Gold to help the Friars beat Yorba Linda, 185-203

BEAU HOSSLER, SANTA MARGARITA – He birdied his last two holes on the front nine and finished with a 1-under 35 at Santa Ana Country Club to help the Eagles beat Mater Dei by two strokes.
