Five CIF-Southern Section playoff games will be played in Orange County during the semifinals round, including one of the Pac-5 Division games.
Mission Viejo will play Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium on Friday in one Pac-5 semifinal. In the division’s other semifinal, Alemany of Mission Hills will play division defending champion Servite on Saturday night, 7 p.m., in a battle of 12-0 teams at Cerritos College.
The Southwest Division semifinals feature Villa Park at Tustin on Friday, 7 p.m., and Freeway League rivals La Habra and Sonora at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, 7 p.m. Sonora also uses the stadium at La Habra High as its home stadium and won the coin flip that decided the home team in that game.
La Habra beat Sonora, 42-13, in a league game on Oct. 29.
When two teams meet after the first round of the playoffs, the team that has played the fewest home playoff games is the home team. If the teams have played the same number of playoff home games, a coin flip decides the home team.
Corona del Mar plays Beckman at Tustin High on Saturday, 7 p.m. in a Southern Division semifinal. Corona del Mar defeated Beckman, 17-15, in a Pacific Coast League game on Nov. 12. Northwood vs. Garden Grove will be held Friday night, 7 p.m. at Garden Grove High.
Whittier Christian plays Village Christian of Sun Valley in a Mid-Valley Division semifinal Friday at Glendale High. In the East Valley Division, defending champion St. Margaret’s plays Paraclete of Lancaster on Friday at Antelope Valley College.
All games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Starting times and sites are subject to change.

Mater Dei has made a nice comeback since losing to Servite. Mission V. will take them by three touchdowns next Friday. Get your t-shirts ready!
Servite will have a tough game against Alemany but should win with Niklas back and healthy. Servite by 10.
Full of what? 3 TD’s ? I dont really know, does anyone?
The Beckman CDM game will be packed! Better get there early!
A suggestion for the Villa Park at Tustin on Friday game & Corona del Mar at Beckman at Tustin High on Saturday game.
Open up the huge back gate along San Juan Street. Use the practice field as a parking lot. Worry about revenue ? Don’t be. Just fence the area and have security set up along that fence. Set up a ticket booth so it greets those parking there. Also open up the gate entrance along Orange Street. Here’s a quick image of what it would look like …

La Habra vs. Sonora should change venues.
Whittier College would be a great site. Seats 7,000. Good parking. Nice turf. And it would be accomadating AND close for both schools. Definately hope both schools look into it. Don’t think there will be a massive fee to rent it out?
This is a La Habra City battle…for the people of la habra to enjoy….LHHS is perfect for this game.
cion flip or no coin flip, there will be an ocean of blue on the home side. Sonora fans better get there early.
Sonora is considered the home team – would that be nice to tell La Habra to go sit on the visitors side.
Yes, I agree big time – should move to Whittier College (lousy parking) or Fulllerton (better parking).
Get there early – a joke – it will be sold out and there will be at least a thousand and more like two thousand who will not get to see this game unless Sonora gets smart and move the game to another site.
I agree whittier college would be a perfect place to hold ALLthe parents and fans.
La Mirada stadium is another great venue, but it might be wise to keep the game in the district (at maybe fullerton stadium ,7000 seats) rather than rent from another district. That is unless CIF is flipping the bill.
The additional ticket sales will more than cover the cost to move.
They might have to work on getting the concessions revenue. Not sure but the concessions must be a big moneymaker.
Didn’t realize that Whittier College was under construction right now, so you might have to park a little farther away in parking lot down the hill, but that can easily hold all the cars.
I honestly think Whittier College or Fullerton will be the place to have it. Both seem to be about the same drive away so that wouldn’t be a big deal, but I just hope Sonora wises up because you don’t want a player’s family member to miss his final game because the Sonora faithful were too stubborn to change the venue.
I hope that Sonora is open-minded to the idea. If they are too stubborn and don’t move it then that’s a shame.
Whittier College = Best Choice
La Habra fills the much larger home side of “The Pit” on a regular season game. Asking them to have fewer seats in a semi-final game is not only unfair, but is unsafe. The Highlanders have done their share of providing revenue for CIF during play-offs these past years. They need to step up and do the right thing and find a venue that meets their fan’s needs.
expound please, why would it be un safe?when its never been a concern in the past.
I got to the regular season game about 30 minutes before game time earlier this year and could not get a seat on the home side. I stood with a couple of hundred other people in the end zone next to the snack bar. I love the Pit, but there is no chance that there will be enough seating for La Habra fans on the visitors side.
It looks like LH fans will have to sit on the home side too.
La Habra fans do not respect their own side whether or not they are home or away. They just want to create a problem with people, i understand if the away side was full, but even before it fills up i guarentee la habra fans trying to take over the Sonora Home side. Would Cal State fullerton be a venue?
Personally i would not mind having it at Fullerton H.S. There the two sides can fit and be seperated
Never been to Whittier College’s field, but the other options IMO are La Mirada, Fullerton (Small Away Side + Cement Bleachers on Away Side), Bradford Stadium (Valencia’s Field), Brea Olinda (Parking Sucks) and a long shot (very long shot) would be CSUF.
I don’t know what the costs are for the college sites, but I assume that they would be pricey depending on the venue.
Fullerton looks like the #1 alternative because it is an district stadium. I doubt that they’ll go to Bradford or Brea Olinda either.
La Mirada might be a possibility and CSUF would be too big I think.
I want to go to the game, so I am hoping the venue get’s switched but I doubt Sonora will be willing to.
why dont they add temp bleachers behind the north end zone?
That still wouldn’t be enough. The LH fans will just have to sit on the home side too. early bird gets the worm. This could cause alot of problems in such a rivalry. Will LH p.d. be on hand, before it gets out of hand?
Chaddy….I’ve been following and going to almost all games (home and away for over ten years and last week was the first time I’ve seen La Habra fans on the other side. If any one is to blame it would be Cypress for not selecting a better venue. They played us last year and should have known that we have a very large following. Yopur just being a hater!
I would argue that Cypress had no where else to go for the game?
Western is the biggest stadium in the district and I think that Glover was being used this weekend? I might be wrong?
With sonora/la habra games i have always found that although sonora may be the home team, la habra fans seem to think they deserve the home side.
Only this time there will be more fans from each team, which i believe might cause more problems with this being a high tension game
A lot of bashing on wheter Sinora will do the right thing. Let’s reverse the role. What would LHHS do if they were the home team? Would they be willing to give up the home field advantage and move to another venue?
I think is different though because La Habra and Sonora play at the same venue. If it were Laguna Hills @ La Habra or Cypress @ Sonora it would be different, I wouldn’t expect them to change venues because that is what home-field advantage is about.
But, honestly, I think LH would change the venue if they were the home team. One quick fone call and the game’s at Cerritos College. I think that would be too big of a venue but I think LH would do the right thing and change it.
Honestly I think LH would change the venue. Its not a real home field advantage if you think about it…. both teams use the same field as their home fields… Like Rays said… it would be different if it wasnt two LH team playing each other.
It is La Habra’s home field why do you think it is at La Habra High? I guess Sonora needs to build a stadiu, at their own school for the once in every 40 years playoff games.
no and thats the only reason their whining about it. and lets get real .after half time the fans that couldnt get a seat will have plenty, nothing will change the known outcome.and there has never been a problem during league so whats the fifference anyway.
Congratulations to Both High Schools La Habra & Sonora, this game will bring in alot of fans North Orange County especially since the game scheduled for Saturday night! Plus this game should be featured on Local Cable TV, this game should be played on different stadium, and there’s are plenty local stadiums out there. I’ve been to too many HS games were you pay the $8.00 price ticket and then you have to stand up to watch the game because there’s no room to sit.
People are right, its not necissarily about home field advantage, its about allowing the room for people to sit comfortably and not have to stand by the snack bar to watch the game through a fence.
It can only benefit the teams to play at a place like csuf. Not only is it only about 20 minutes away, there shouldnt be a worry about leaving parents and families of the players out of the game due to not enough tickets.
True if you want to go you should arrive early, but not everyone can accomadate to that and it should be taken into some consideration. This game will sell enough tickets to offset the cost of relocating to a larger stadium
Note: The Servite vs Alemany gametime has been moved up to 7p.m.
