Woodbridge wrestling coach K.J. Bentley, who collapsed and died Monday afternoon on campus, apparently had high hopes for his team this season.
Former University wrestling Chris Conlin spoke to Bentley during the off-season, and at that time, Bentley said he was excited about his team.
“He was telling me that they were going to give Irvine a run for their money this season,” said Conlin, now the athletic director at University. “He did a great job and his wrestlers really respected him. This is a big loss in the wrestling community.”
