University’s Maggie Burton has won a tight race to claim the OCVarsity.com Freshman Girls Swimmer of the Year.

There were several outstanding freshmen in Orange County again this spring but Burton’s strong effort at Division 1 finals sealed her the victory.

Burton placed fifth in the breaststroke (1:03.48) and 10th in the 200 individual medley (2:06.51).

Tesoro’s Jack DesCombes claimed the freshman honor on the boys side.
