It has been stated before but I still don’t think the voting system is working properly. Couldn’t vote anytime in the second round for my player.

  • ComeDownMan says:

I recommend that no one vote

  • SuperCharger says:

Why should we vote if it’s not fair?

  • fellow golfer says:

i dont think that the athlete of the year should be based off of this. This is ridiculous

  • The voting was checked several times during the second round and it worked properly. Yes, some fans experienced difficulties, but many did not. And by no means are the Orange County athletes of the year being chosen this way. This simply is a way for fans to honor their choices. The O.C. athletes of the year are chosen by our staff and have nothing to do with this voting system.

  • Mr. G says:

All due respect to the register, your system is not working properly. Look at the number of votes between the first round and the second round. Why did they drop off so much? Did your contest lose the reader’s interest after one round ? Logic tells us all that the voting system does not work. Why have this type of event if it does not operate fairly and consistently.

  • The number of votes dropped drastically by design. Because we learned of an effort to vote repeatedly for certain candidates and skew the results in the first round, we put into place a way to limit users to one vote per contest (one athlete vs. another athlete) per day. This meant that users could not sit at their computers and vote hundreds or thousands of times in a short span for a particular athlete. Yes, there are some ways around this, but they take some effort. This was done in our effort to make things as fair as possible since our request for users to follow an honor system was not followed.

Great Todd…after how many years did it take to figure this out?
I guess this throws all previous year’s winners out the window as well.

  • The Guild says:

Thanks for clearing it all up TH. In other words, The OC Register blog controls this little “vote or not” exercise. Anyone of any integrity and common sense should IMMEDIATELY CEASE TO VOTE !”.

Congrats to those “in the know” for seeking the level of competency that is shared by other’s like Cal Hi, et.al.

  • tim cahill says:

dude why does everybody take this so seriously, it’s not like the players get a trophy for it? everyone needs to calm down

    • I agree that it shouldn’t be taken too seriously, but the winners actually will be honored at our Athlete of the Year dinner June 9 and will be presented with plaques.

      • tim cahill says:

well thats nice they get a placque, but ppl need to bring it down a notch…thanks OC register for recognizing these atheletes!
