University sophomore Megan Rankin of Irvine Aquazot placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:46.64) at the NCSA Junior Nationals in Orlando on Tuesday.
Rankin’s time was excellent. It would rank seventh in the nation so far this college season.
The Aquazot and Golden West clubs are using the club meet as a peak event in the short-course season.
The top -two placers in each individual race qualify for a berth in the Irish Long Course Nationals, which start April 29 in Dublin.
West Coast Swimming’s girls 200 medley relay, featuring Cindy Tran (Edison), Alli Gillespie (Edison) and Cynthia Fascella (Fountain Valley) finished fourth n n1:43.31.
