The 2010 invitational season began on a winning note for the Orange Lutheran boys and girls track and field teams Saturday at the Earl Engman Relays held at Fred Kelly Stadium.

The Lancers’ girls team won the Division 2 team title, outscoring second-place Corona del Mar, 112-82. They also took home co-Sweepstakes Champion honors with Mission Viejo.

Highlighted among the team’s wins was a time of 4:19.82 in the 1,600 meter sprinit medley relay, which broke the Division 2 meet record set by Santa Margarita (4:21.9) in 1995.

Freshman and all-county cross country runner Jacquie Adams had a strong track and field debut, anchoring the Lancers meet best time in the sprint medley, the distance medley (12:37.11), and the 4x800m relay (9:42.85).

The Lancers also enjoyed a strong effort in the high jump relay, as juniors Annie Giebelhaus and Chelsea Larson each cleared 5-4.

On the boys side, senior Mason Hahn established a new school record in the high jump with a clearance of 6-8.

That mark is tied for the best in the state through the first weekend of reported marks.

His efforts, along with 6 foot clearances from senior Shawn Rohr and sophomore Darien Washington helped Orange Lutheran (18-8) to a new meet record mark in the event.

Among the team’s other victorious efforts were the shuttle hurdles (1:00.54), the 4 x100m relay (44.69), the Sprint Medley (3:50.67), and the 4x200m relay (1:34.43).

Orange Lutheran defeated second place Woodbridge 90-60 in Division 2, and won the co-Sweepstakes team title with Mission Viejo.
