Edison linebacker Jordan Zumwalt, the 2009 Orange County defensive player of the year, just announced that he picked UCLA over Stanford.
Zumwalt had committed to Stanford early, but he got a lot of interest from UCLA and USC in the final weeks before Signing Day.
Before Zumwalt announced his decision, several media members gathered in the Edison football coaches’ offices and a throng of students got together to find out the news.
Zumwalt seemed happy and relaxed after announcing his decison. After his fantastic senior season and after his commitment to Stanford, he was pursued hotly by UCLA and USC. When former Trojans coach Pete Carroll left USC for the Seattle Seahawks, however, it appeared as if his focus shifted far more to the Bruins.
And it appeared down the stretch that he would end up with UCLA, which he made official today.
We’ll also have more soon on another factor that could have helped convince Zumwalt to choose UCLA: The Bruins offered Zumwalt’s friend, Edison’s Luke Gane, a spot as a preferred walk-on and he took it.
Keep checking back. We’ll have a lot more from Zumwalt, including photos and video.
Note: In our effort to get you the news immediately, we had a misunderstanding between the reporter and editor. We mistakenly flipped the schools in our initial post and have corrected them above.
Tracy Pierson ( and Truth) of B.R.O. just reported to U.C.L.A., please advise.
who cares? please advise.
Isn’t she the one who was threatening subscribers the other day. Man she is batting 1,000. Sorry to hear of your loss Bruins.
Acutally I’m thrilled but wanted to stay civil.
Woman of Troy,
Sicerely,
Truth
I’d rather see Jordan wearing Cardinal & Gold, but I admire him for sticking to his commitment and choosing a school that was best for him.
I would have only been disappointed in him had he chosen to wear Blue & Gold.
Your post reads Cardinal and Gold ( sour) grapes
read it again
I have heard from more than one source that he picked UCLA. Where are you getting your information….You need to post a retraction on this ASAP
Truth was able confirm early on: Zumwalt to Da Bruins!
First, Tracy’s a he. Secondly, the above blog post has been switched to UCLA. Nice try.
Nice job guys! LOL
Good job on the fixing of the article.
Please be more thorough in your reporting next time.
Thanks
Feel free to actually report the news and not create it. Way to report him to Stanford before he actually announced for UCLA. Pathetic reporting!
Give Al Banana’s a break, he made a mistake.
read it and weep…
Good for him.. this guy is a toothpick for an LB. USC does not need more of that at this position. Galipico and Morgan are too small too. I’ll take Glenn Stanley and Hayes Pullard over him anyday..
Yeah, nice try. What do you think it says about your program when Zumwalt goes on an unofficial visit to UCLA after an official visit to USC and chose UCLA instead?
Got a look at SC’s depth chart and ran! No room for the little guy.
6’4″ 215 is too small at age 18? Wow do you know anything?
Colleges know they can beef the guys up! They look at talent and health. Hello!!
now its up to cecil, and we will know at any moment.its amazing with orange county being a hotbed for talent that the only oc boys left in drama were the only ones in fab15 1st and second team.and one of them commits to a second rate program. hotbed my butt

Cherv,
You bet your bacon they are. The Southern (cal) Methodist folks
are getting tight around the collar.
Dewey beats Truman!
215 lb at 6’4 is SCRAWNY dog… CFB is not always the answer to natural size, speed, and strength. Look at Galipico and Morgan. Especially Chris. He plays super hard with GREAT heart and intensity but got all beat up.He is too small.Morgan is real fast but too small. How’d they do last season ??? Natural size with strength and with speed is inherited and can’t be coached.
You need to be atleast 240lbs or soon to be dominate on the college level as a LB .. ie…. Brian Cushing. Vontaze Burflict at ASU
its best to bring them in at this weight for HS then “hope” your going to develop that in college.. Many of this kids can’t put on 20+ lbs and keep their speed and laterals… not their body type.
UCLA can have him.. We took Pullard from UCLA and he is 220 lb but not as tall. He has to put on another 20, build up his strength and keep his speed to get the job done but a much better specimen than Zumwalt. Glen Stanley is a BEAST and perfect and will be perfected
hey mat you right, let the baby bears have him. and you would think at a super power like edison hed have more weight on that 6-4 frame. by the way the fab 15 1st and second teams show usc 8 cant say those words so Ill say the other guys 4. and one of ours is max preps national player of year.we get the studs they get the scrawnies.
Steal the Bacon,
You seem to be pretty sharp. Can the death (N.C.A.A.) penalty be appealed? After the sanctions are handed down, do the recruits
have the legal right to transfer accross town?
Sincerely,
Will my tax dollars go towards this athletes education or just to have him to play a game? What do I get in return for my tax dollars?
Excellent Roads.
Chervis,
Good point, Nice smooth roads on the way to the game. After all,
you are financing this toppling of the monopoly, god
forbid the road should be bumpy to the Rose Bowl. After all,
bumpy sounds, vibration, uneven ride all lead to nervousness.
We certainly don’t want you stressed out when you watch the Bruins
thrash Southern (cal) Methodist.
Truth cares
I love to see all these Bruins fans get excited about an 18 year old kid, who might help there program 3 years from now. You went 6-5 and barely beat Temple…who??…Temple!! Another crappy year and Slick Rick might have to pull off another scandal, so he won’t have to go through the embarrassment of being fired!!
Bruins are gaining
Does anyone know how to get in touch with Tracy Pierson from UCLA?
