El Toro first-team All-County water polo player Nick Rascon has committed to Long Beach State, he said in a text message Saturday.
Rascon is a major get for Coach Gavin Arroyo’s program. Rascon played for the U.S. junior team during the summer and went on to help the Chargers claim the Division I title. He was Division I co-player of the year with teammate Russell Renteria.
Rascon also was interested in USC and Pepperdine.
“I really like Gavin as a coach,” Rascon wrote. “With his Olympic experience and him having connections with the European club teams in Spain and Greece, he can reach one of my goals by signing with a pro team in Spain or (making) an Olympic run.”
At last, a high quality player going some place else other than Cal, USC, UCLA or Stanford. This is great for the college game and a great recruit for Gavin Arroyo—congrats to the 49ers and to Nic.
Awesome choice Nick! Congratulations!
his dad might be a crazy fan, but Nick can play.. best of luck to you!
Congratulations to you Nick! Love to see Cal State be a competitive program that gives the top 4 a run for their money.
This is a good get for Gavin Arroyo who has had difficulty recruiting top athletes. Is it possible that Hoverston is considering this school as well. Hoverston would really be a big deal for this school.
Well did he sign? Where’s the pic? We know his family is so proud of their boy. Did he sign cause Albano said he was going to sign today?
Maybe he didnt. Whatz going on?
