Capo Valley’s Zamora honored by Dodgers

Capistrano Valley baseball coach Bob Zamora is getting the Tommy Lasorda Lifetime Achievement Award tonight in the Stadium Club at Dodger Stadium.
Zamora is getting ready for his 33rd season coaching Capo Valley baseball.
Coach Z has coached the Cougars to 15 league championships and six CIF championships.
Dodgers all-time great Duke Snider signed Zamora to a pro contract; Lasorda scouted Zamora. Among the 30 former Cougars who have been drafted or signed with MLB teams is Mike Watt, a 2007 draft pick of the Dodgers.
I saw Zamora when he was a semi-pro player for the La Fonda Stars, at Memorial Park in Santa Ana in the 1960s, back in the old Metro League days. When our Little League games or practices were done, we’d hustle over to the big southwest diamond and watch La Fonda play.

Bobby Z is one of the most consistent people I know. A great baseball person who really teaches the game of life. He has helped so many players get to the next level. But the best is that he helped more young adults rise to a better place in life.
