Santa Margarita Catholic High School announces today the resignation of Mike Jacot as the school’s head football coach. Jacot cited personal reasons for stepping down.

He will stay on as the school’s first strength and conditioning coordinator.

Jacot was 38-38 during his seven seasons with the Eagles. In 2006, Jacot was named Coach of the Year (OC Register).

Santa Margarita principal Ray Dunne:   “One of the most striking characteristics of Mike is his leadership, which is based on high ethical and moral standards, for which we are very appreciative. During his seven years as head coach, the SM football program has been faith based and has emphasized character development. I look forward to continued association with Coach Jacot in his new role as the school’s first coordinator of strength and conditioning.”

SM has been in talks with Mission’s Coach Johnson. In fact, he was on campus last night, supposedly working out a deal with Dunne. I understand ,one of the terms of the agreement was to keep Jacot as the Strength and Conditioning coach, for the year.
Sounds like another Catholic cover-up. First Strength Coach? What the heck have they been doing over there?

Johnson in Catholic High School…love it. He’ll out recruit MD and OLU and there will be scandals left and right. Way to sell your soul to the Diablo SM? What’s next?

I feel bad for Coach Jacot. He is a nice young man that did so much for the football program, his players and the school. I can’t believe SM would push him out like this.

Apparently he didn’t get pushed out, he resigned. Gee first Jacot resigning then Veeder, doesn’t anybody get fired anymore?. I don’t
have any idea what type of program he ran, but it does come down to
Johnny’s and joes. That being said, There’s alot of competition down south. M.v., Tesoro, Dana Hills, St. Welch’s, Hartigan’s heroes.

I don’t fault Santa Margarita for replacing Mike Jacot. Mike is a great guy, but, (in my opinion) is not a Trinity League Head Coach. 38 -38 is not a good record, especially after the Jim Hartigan years. Now there’s a great coach.

I do agree with the “selling your soul to the Diablo” comment. Bob Johnson is bad news. He will bring much controversy to the program. Adding him to the mix may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and may result in so many ill feelings that CIF my send the Catholics into a system of their own.

Just a few remarks that I placed on another post.

Well then, here’s an opportunity for one of the biggest opponents of private school vs public school hsfb to put his money where his mouth is and display his true skills as one of the finest. It would take tremendous courage for him to make the move and I for one don’t believe that he will.

It would run smack in the face of all the statements and acts from Johnson over the years regarding the advantages of “no borders”, if he were to produce anything less than a CIF Championship every other year, or so, at a program in the backyard (huge, as it has become for MV) of his current program.

The Trinity League would welcome his jump with open arms, but I have sincere doubts as to the genuine intent of Coach Johnson. Sometimes, as hard as it is to believe by the masses, these “interests” proclaimed by some top coaches, are nothing but ploys to get their current admins to add to the coffers, by way of benefits and hidden compensation.

There are plenty of qualified coaches that are deserving of a prestigious position like that of RSM and if Mr.Dunne would like, I can recommend several worthy candidates with ties that he and the President share, if you catch my drift. Let’s all hope that a proper search and evaluation occurs.
