Football Video: Servite defeats Edison to win Pac-5 title

football_iconThe Friars defeated the Chargers 16-6 to win their first CIF title since 1983. Servite held Edison scoreless through 3 quarters as Servite laid into Edison. Whether it was Coleby Clemmer, Jacob Slemmer, or Blake Brady, these guys proved a point.

It’s well known that defense wins championships, and Servite certainly proved that, holding the Chargers to 35 total yards in the first half. This was against a team that was averaging 36.4 points per game.

Jeff Trojan and Dylan Leener weren’t winning the jump balls they did when Edison beat Servite 23-9 on Sept. 25.

Also, Servite celebrated with class. Head Coach Troy Thomas didn’t want any one hoisting a finger saluting that they were number one, but the Friars might get the opportunity to do that in the state title game next week.

Finally, congratulations to Edison on a great season. I know the Huntington Beachers are tired of coming in second place, but there’s no shame in that.

MISSION VIEJO IS THE REAL BEST TEAM IN ORANGE COUNTY, IF THEY HAD A CHANCE AT A REMATCH WITH SERVITE THEY WOULD WIN BY MORE THAN 2 TOUCHDOWNS; NOTHING WENT MISSION’S WAY IN THEIR PREVIOUS GAME AGAINST SERVITE( NOT TALKING ABOUT THE REFS) THEY DROPPED A WIDE OPEN TD PASS, GAVE UP A HUGE GAIN BY A TRICK PLAY THAT SET UP A TD, FUMBLED ON SERITES 2O YRD LINE WHEN THEY WERE ABOUT TO SCORE AND PUT THE GAME AWAY, OH YEAH AND IF THEIR FIELD GOAL KICKER COULD MAKE A KICK THEN ALL THAT OTHER STUFF WOULDN’T EVEN MATTER; MISSION OUTPLAYED SERVITE IN THE SEMIS, BUT IT JUST WASN’T SUPPOSE TO BE; IT ALSO DOESNT HELP WHEN YOUR STARTING STRONG SAFETY, FULLBACK, SLOT BACK, TE, AND KICKER AREN’T PLAYING, WITHOUT ALL THOSE KEY PLAYERS MISSION STILL OUTPLAYED SERVITE

. . . and if a frog had longer legs, he wouldn’t bump his but when he jumps.

Mission Viejo is a fine team. The players that Sponge Bob “borrowed” from other schools are fine players. But, the got out played on the night in question.

They were dirty. They got away with two pass interfearances. Their defense was hitting Cody late all night. Their defenders were climbing on the down linemen to try to block field goals and extra points. They didn’t win against a quality opponent.

Servite is the Trinity League Champ. Servite is the Pac 5 Champ. Servite will be the State Div. II Champ.

      Get over it.

By the way, IMO, Edison was a better team than MV.

    Credo,

Not just for the school but for the entire Trintiy League. Thank you Mater Dei, OL, SM, Serra, Bosco for prepping us for the playoffs. Thank you Thomas for letting Cody THROW! Thank you Friars for restoring the glory back to the program! GO SERVITE FRIARS!!!!!!!
