Football Video: La Mirada takes title over heartbroken Garden Grove

The Matadores win the Southern Division championship over Garden Grove 49-27.
The Argonauts were rolling until their quarterback Sean Young was injured early in the second quarter. He left the game and was later wheeled out on a stretcher with a rib injury. Being down on the sidelines, it was gut wrenching to see him fight away his tears. His team suffered in his absence, struggling to even pick up a first down.
Without Sean Young, La Mirada went on to score 42 consecutive points on the heels of Justin Torres and his three touchdowns.
However, my favorite part of the game came towards the end of the fourth quarter, as Carlos Arias tumbled over a cheerleader block, trying to get out of the way of an oncoming player. He ruined his knees and nearly sent an innocent cheerleader to a brutal fall. Truly hilarious.

Give La mirada a little more credit! They beat the snot out of not just garden grove but almost all of their opponents this season and you do the same thing you did last week,hype up the opposing teams game and make excuses as to why they lost,instead of speaking of la miradas strong team and why they won!!!

great history has been made through this young argonaut football team. They cherished many good and bad memories. The argonauts could of win without the lost of their quaternack.
noones ttaking anything away from la mirada, but if sean was playing the whole game and didnt have a rib injury, i dont know if your defense was able to stop the argos offense…when he was in the game the score was 21-7 and look what happened after
It was 21-7 because La Mirada was beating them selves! A pic and a fumble! Yes #13 is very good but unless he was going to strap it up and make every tackle on D then I disagree with you! You got pounded GG deal with it!

Cheating! Come on, #13 got blasted by Gama #6 (RB/LB)! It’s Football! And if you have to depend on one player then your not a Championship football team! So you go the whole year crossing your fingers and hoping that #13 Doesn’t get hurt!

Injuries are part of the game. Garden Grove has shown a great deal of determination and class throughout the season. Don’t tarnish the positive reputation that the Argo’s have build by discrediting La Mirada’s victory.
more importantly, is there any video of Carlos Arias tumbling and bumbling and stumbling fall?
i am a fan of neither of these teams but went to see this game last night. and to be honest, GG’s QB was nothing special to me. la mirada was clearly a much better football team. it seemed as though the refs were working with grove all game and still could not win.
so as i said, i am a fan of neither of these teams so don’t think im some LM fan boasting, just my honest truth as a football fan
IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU WIN OR LOSE, IT’S HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME! It’s been a long time since GG has been in the playoff’s and for them to reach this level is a of hard work and determination. From what I saw on the video, they gave it their all.
LaMirada way to get the title this year. Outstanding offense, defense, and special team’s play, not to mention Great coaching from all of your staff. My hat’s off for Garden Grove though. To loose a leader like Kevin Telles and to dedicate your season like you did, and to play like Champion’s all year. O.C. Coach of the Year has to go to Coach Kay hand’s down. The G.G. League has had only one CIF Champion : Bolsa Grande in 86′. So to just make it that far is an Awsome Job for the entire team. Use this in life, live life to it’s fullest, work hard, and overcome adversity in all thing’s. Argonaut’s live long and remember this time 4-ever. There was nothing innocent about that cheerleader. She was a menace on the sidelines and I heard she kicks puppies. D.C. is a bad person. Very bad, and I hope he slips and falls at Angel Stadium.

You can’t use the excuse of losing your quarterback as an excuse. La mirada lost there QB in the first quarter against St.Paul and still won. Great teams are more than just one player. La Mirada was clearly the superior team

way to make assumptions glen, i actually play for pacifica and am going to play in college, smashing grove so much they kicked us out of their league. i guess beating teams such as bolsa, los amigos, la quinta, santiago, orange, bellflower, rancho and laguna beach is special…. not.
they played a real team and got beat bad.

LaMirada won it hands down. I congratulate Garden Grove for getting this far. But, in the long run it’s the best team who wins. So, let’s give LaMirada credit, they worked their butts off, and deserve all of this. The boys dedicated their season also, to a young man who also deserves credit, DANTE!!!!! LaMirada will continue to hear negativity, so what, that is what jealous people do. Instead of congratulating the coaches and players, they will find something to criticize our team of. Anyways, to all the players and coaches, from the bottom of this proud mother’s heart, you guys are the bomb!!!!!! You guys are CHAMPIONS!!!! HEART & PRIDE & TRUST showed throughout the year. You guys brought it back to LaMirada, made history and all of these boys deserve all the attention they are getting.
