Nice victory for Sunny Hills at a weak tourney. Sunny Hills is the best of the lesser teams.
realpolo….you would be surprised at how good some of the inland schools are these days in girls polo. Sunny Hills has a great program and they deservadly won this tournament. They have a great water polo program at Sunny Hills. Great kids and great coaching. I personally think Sunny Hills can challenge some beach schools. They got game.
Please. It is Dos Pueblos, Newport and then everybody else. Those 2 schools will have maybe 3 or 4 competitive games all year – including the times they play each other.
I agree with both Turn the Page and North County Fan. Its no secret that beach schools and Dos Pueblos have great teams. But inland schools have talent too. Let’s be fair here: Inland schools may not have as many quality players on each team as beach schools but they are working on closing the gap and are working dilligently at developing talent. I do see a day when girls polo will be stronger in the North than along the coast. Look at what Commerce Water Polo Club has accomplished. Not a beach nearby but can that club develop talent or what?? Most of the kids are from lower income households and are hispanic. It proves that you do not have to live near a beach or attend a coastal or even private school to be great. You simply have to work hard and be coached properly.
Couldn’t agree more with Can’twealljustgetalong… And look out for the Inland Empire schools! That’s where the population is exploding and those teams dominate the lower divisions right now. Give ‘em a few years and they will give the perennial powers a run for their money.
