Girls volleyball: CdM advances in state tourney

girls_volleyball_blogCorona del Mar has yet another shot at Redlands East Valley, the team that beat the Sea Kings the last two years in the CIF-SS Division II-AA finals.

The teams will meet Tuesday at REV in the CIF State Championships Division II semifinals.

Corona del Mar swept Elsinore, the Division II-A champ, on Saturday, 25-19, 25-17, 25-22, in the quarterfinals. REV swept La Canada in its quarterfinal match.

CdM was led by Amanda Nickel and Morgan Boukather, who each had 10 kills. Madison Smith dished out 38 assists and had 7 digs.

CdM and REV played last Saturday, when REV won in four games.

The winner will play in the state championship match next Saturday at the Bren Center in Irvine.
