Friday’s second-round game
LAGUNA HILLS (9-2) VS. SEGERSTROM (7-4)
Site, time: Segerstrom High, 7 p.m.
Outlook: The third-seeded Hawks appeared to be in championship form in their 34-7 victory over Estancia in the first round. Segerstrom’s upset of Mayfair of Lakewood in the first round spoiled a rematch of last year’s championship game, which was won by Laguna Hills, 28-21. The Hawks beat Segerstrom, 33-14, earlier this season. Laguna Hills is averaging 231.5 rushing yards per game and the most points they’ve allowed during their eight-game winning streak was 14 to Irvine. The Hawks have limited teams to seven points or fewer during their streak. Quarterback Brian Murrieta’s 3-yard touchdown run in overtime gave the Jaguars a 41-35 triumph over Mayfair. The Laguna Hills-Segerstrom winner plays the La Mirada-Santiago winner next week in the semifinals.
