The Griffins lost for the second time this season in five games to the Chargers, 25-18, 25-21, 11-25, 20-25, 15-3, at Dos Pueblos.

Los Al also rallied from two games down in the previous meeting. The Griffins had a chance to split the first two games Tuesday. They held a 20-19 lead in Game 2 before falling.

It was a difficult first-round assignment for each squad. Dos Pueblos couldn't have been happy about opening up with Los Al, a team that pushed them to five once already.

Los Al also couldn't have been happy to have to travel to Dos Pueblos on such a short turnaround from Saturday's tough loss to Newport Harbor in the sectional final.

It was asking a lot of the Griffins to pull off the upset of the region's No. 1 seed. To force another fifth game after falling down 0-2 is a testament to the girls for not giving in.

The loss ends a terrific season for Los Al. It opened the season as the county's No. 1 team, and never fell further than No. 2 before finishing the year back on top in the rankings.
