The best football games on this week's schedule:
El Toro (8-3) vs. Cypress (10-1)
Friday, 7 p.m. at Western High
Outlook: El Toro defeated Villa Park, 14-7 in the first round. The defense played a key role, allowing only two first downs in the second half and recorded five sacks.
The El Toro offense will need to keep the ball away from Cypress. Runnning back Nico Jackson rushed for 74 yards against Villa Park and quarterback Braden Olson completed eight of 14 passes for 76 yards.
At this point, I think it would be safe to categorize Cypress running back Akeelie Muhammad as unstoppable. How else can you explain 40 total touchdowns, 2,156 rushing yards and three consecutive 200-plus yard performances?
Muhammad’s lowest rushing output this season was 122 against Mater Dei in the second game of the year.
In last week’s 44-14 first round victory against Troy, Muhammad averaged 11.9 yards per carry. He also had two receptions for 47 yards.
The challenge of stopping/slowing him belongs to El Toro this week.
Is there any hope?

I've seen AK a couple times in person and he is scary fast. Pacifica, which is suppose to have good D, couldn't lay a hand on him. (Yes, I know, Pacifica kept it close.... blah, blah, blah, they still lost). So far, no one has even come close to stopping AK. El Toro's defense has been pretty stout at times during the year, a great effort against a good Laguna Hills squad, the defense was also tough with Huntington Beach, and was surprisingly tough in a losing effort to Trabuco Hills. But, the Centurion offense is better than all those teams. The El Toro defense won't be able to stop the fastest kid in the OC. Cypress all over El Toro 45-10.
Cypress loves to run, for obvious reasons. The only real issue with AK, it that he can score too fast. need to control the ball and eat up the the clock. Turn it into an 8 possession game.
I live in Cypress, So I will have to pull for the local team.
5 years ago, we wouldnt be having this conversation. Fenton has brought life into this once laughable program.
Let's see what happens, ET's D can be very good, quite the test!!! Should be fun game. et by 3
If E.T. thinks that Cypress is only Muhammed, Ortiz will smoke them. He completed 6-of 8 passes last week and is over 60% for the season, with only two interceptions. Cypress only uses the pass to keep the apponent honest, but they pass VERY well.
Cypress has a loaded gun ak isn't there only bullet that where all the teams miss judge!! they can try to stop ak but they won't!! and they can try to stop cypress other ways but they won't and the main reason why unlike the others WE ARE FAMILY ...it goes beyound the field ...coach fenton is a pop to those kids win or lose they still are winners the game begains in the class room first line six fore ever..YOU JUST GOT TO LOVE IT...
If Cypress and La Habra meet in the semi's, it will be good match-up. AK may get yards and TD's, but too many teams for too many years have been underestimating LH in the play-offs. Fortunately for LH, they have seen a couple of fast small RB's this year. I am confident that Mazoda and company will have made adjustments to the "D" to decrease AK's effectiveness.
now you re geting ahead of yourself i think la habra'll kill cypress,n besides youre in for a dog fight against E.T.get ready for a very physical game. prediction E.T.28-14.
