Many families had arranged their weekend schedules around this tournament. If this tournament is planned for next year, I hope someone else is involved.

It’s a shame that they’re canceling the tournament. I was looking forward to it. I think an all state championship tournament would have been fun to watch as well albeit the finances involved amongst other things would have been difficult to put together. Maybe next year.

For passionate fans of high school polo, a state tournament of some kind is an exciting prospect, and the natural next step toward deciding an objective champion. So credit goes to Scott Mitchell for the vision to begin that process, regardless of how it ended up this year. We can all look forward to progress next Fall. Until then, the debate continues…who’s the best?

I agree with all of the above,however H2Opolo has a chance to grow & deserves the attention & accolades our hard working sons/daughters have earned. Put aside petty stuff & SHOW UP for the sport. Any Publicity & interest itowards representing your high school goes along way. USA water polo is trying in the best interest of the sport – in these economic times, schools are looking around at anything they can cut …….

David, your comment is not worth responding to. ET has the plaque, end of story. I also want to give Scott Mitchell credit for his hard work. I believe there were many issues at hand and to get High Schools from different CIF zones, during difficult financial times, is a very tough thing to do. Scott, thank you and hope that you can pull this together next year.

Hey, David McMonigle of “Of course, the CIF winners don’t want to participate in another tournament. For instance, El Toro doesn’t want to face Loyola and loose.”

The word you are looking for is not “loose” but “lose,” as in “Loyola did lose its last game of the season to El Toro.” Chargers have nothing left to prove. if it were a state tournament, then, perhaps, they’d play, even though they already won the North-South Challenge.

Give a lot of credit to Scott Mitchell for trying to put this together. I, for one, still think it is a great idea –to have a California State High School Championship Tournament. Maybe its timing, maybe its finances, maybe everyone is just done–but who knows, someday maybe a majority of the high school coaches will see this as a big deal, and will want to participate.
