Dan, can you give us a year-by-year list for, oh, say the last 20 years? Would be interested in knowing how many of these titles are fairly current.

  • Bob Rohwer (formerly Bob R.) says:

Hasn't El Toro boys been in the DI title game each of the past four years, winning twice? I believe they've also won two Masters titles in that time.

  • PoloFan says:

El Toro was truly dominant tonight. Much credit to the team and Don Stoll. They were well prepared and super focused. I hereby proclaim the them the best team in America. They beat Mater Dei 2 out of 3 times this year - if anyone would pose them to be a contemporary.

loyola should of won cif they are the best team by far
    just got unlucky in semis

"loyola should of won cif they are the best team by far"

Sorry, in sport there is no "should have won". The day the game was played, the better team won-period. The "best team" needs to perform on game day, and El Toro showed they are champions.

  • Bob Rohwer (formerly Bob R.) says:

Loyola got "unlucky in semis" or simply lost to a better team? C'mon, polofan, such sour grapes are not becoming.

    • Cardinalfan says:

      Dan,

It seems that the county sports the best coaches in the county with Barnett currently holding the title of all time leader for CIF Titles in the active high school coach category (boys and girls), and now Stoll's 6 titles are pretty impressive. And let's not forget Mikesell, Eight CIF Titles and One Master's Title, boys and girls this decade, (2000-2010). Those who have played for these individuals truly were lucky.

  • h2opolo says:

    Loyola was beat period.

Luck? It's called a great shot. Loyola chose to focus on Rascon underestimating the so called "inexperienced " players who made an incredible shot. Polofan must be a student because I could not see a parent or adult fan making that statement.
