Irvine High's football team has claimed the Dennis Toohey Fence Post Trophy, which goes to the Irvine city champion, for the second year in a row.
Irvine, which faces University tonight at 7 at Irvine High in a Pacific Coast League game, has a 3-0 record against other Irvine teams.
Woodbridge winds up second in the Fence Post race at 2-1-1. Beckman's victory over University last week clinched the Fence Post for Irvine.
University (1-2 against city rivals) would have had a shot at the Fence Post if had defeated Beckman.
Irvine will receive the Fence Post after tonight's game.
Tonight is also the final regular season game for Irvine's Terry Henigan, who is retiring after 29 years as the Vaqueros' head coach.
University Coach Mark Cunningham is expected to commend Henigan for his years of service during a pre-game ceremony.
University is the home team. A celebration for Henigan will be held after the season, as is Henigan's wish, according to Irvine Athletic Director Erik Terry.
