Edison water polo standout Danielle Warde signed Wednesday with UC Irvine, Chargers coach Diggy Riley said in an e-mail Wednesday. Warde had earlier committed to Coach Dan Klatt’s program.

Warde’s father, Tom, was a NCAA player of the year at UC Irvine.

Danielle is certainly a strong candidate to earn first-team All-County honors this upcoming season. And if memory serves, she could be the first first-team All-County player to sign with UC Irvine while in high school. So yes, Warde is a big get for UC Irvine.
