Garden Grove League
SANTIAGO (8-1, 4-0) VS. GARDEN GROVE (9-0, 4-0)
Where, when: Garden Grove High, Friday, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Garden Grove has gone through the regular season undefeated only once, in 1991, since the school opened in 1921. So some history is on the line here for the Argonauts. They already have had a remarkable season. Grove lost team leader Kevin Telles on opening week, when Telles collapsed during the game against Westminster and died later that evening, but somehow kept it together and kept on winning. Yes, Garden Grove’s Joe Hay is on the list of coach of the year candidates and quarterback Sean Young (124 yards passing a game, 93 rushing a game) has to be the frontrunner for league player of the year honors. Santiago’s Aaron Sharestani has done another great job coaching the Cavaliers. The Cavs are headed for the playoffs for the third year in a row, and here they are competing for a third consecutive league championship, too, despite losing last season’s leading rusher, passer and receiver to graduation. Santiago in nonleague games beat two teams, Anaheim and Segerstrom, that will be league champions. But the Garden Grove League championship likely belongs to Garden Grove, which looks one of those teams of destiny.

The OCVarsity football challenge
It's been a great season for the ARGONUTS but they are going down Friday night.
Thank you Mr. Servite, for picking against the Cavaliers... just adds fuel to the fire. This game was a boring, drag it out in the dirt type of game that came down to Grove's D making a play, or Santiago's D making a play... you remember what happened. Argos, Cavs, good luck, I rock the purple for a reason... GO Cavs!
