NO. 4 DANA HILLS (8-1, 4-0) VS. NO. 2 MISSION VIEJO (9-0, 4-0)

Where, when: Mission Viejo High, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: It’s been a great season for Dana Hills. The Dolphins’ only loss has been to Edison, the No. 1 team in the county. Dana Hills, led by so many outstanding players like multiple-threat Chris Kearney, running back Brandon Howe and quarterback Josh Dean, has had one close game in league, a three-point victory over Tesoro. Mission Viejo has had no close games. Its closest game – 26-7, over Loyola of Los Angeles. In league, Mission’s average margin of victory is 45 points. The Diablos’ offense has been fantastic, but the team strength might be the defense and its star players like linebacker Tre Madden and defensive back Jake Marshall. You probably would not think that a 9-0, 4-0 team could dominate an 8-1, 4-0 team. But that just might happen in this game.

Winner: Mission Viejo

Frankly Fryer: Fountain Valley vs. Los Alamitos

Frankly Fryer: La Habra vs. Fullerton

Frankly Fryer: Santiago vs. Garden Grove

Frankly Fryer: Segerstrom vs. Santa Ana

Frankly Fryer: Savanna vs. Anaheim

Frankly Fryer: Costa Mesa vs. Laguna Beach

Mission plays this one at home which is a huge advantage. Mission will beat up on Dana Hills and prove they are team to beat in the OC not Edison. I hope they meet in the playoffs.

    • anonymous says:

Dana's coming in for one HUGE MISSION UPSET!!!

The Dolphins have this game hands down. Dana is stronger, more powerful, more aggressive, faster, smarter, more agile and a better overall team.

Mission is weak and have had it pretty easy this season. They'll finally know what FOOTBALL means when they go up against a better opponent.

  • Total agreement with the warrior............and i too second the motion on a playoff meeting would be a GREAT game for the County to enjoy!!

  • keeping it real says:

hahah Edison would out scheme MV. and shut them down. Cause unlike the rest of MV's schedule we play defense. Viles would control that game. Ask Servite a previously unbeatable team... or FV who averaged 30 points a game before getting beaten down.

  • anonymous says:

No matter what anyone says EVERYONE at Dana Hills is going to be at that game cheering on the Dolphins like no one is watching!!!!!

    H. Jackson Brown, Jr. once said, "I never expect to lose. Even when I'm the underdog, I still prepare a victory speech."

Prepare your Victory Speech Dolphins. Cause we want to hear it when the news reporters interview you after your victory!!!

  • HS Fan says:

there isn't going to be an inch of extra space in the entire mission stadium on friday

  • UHWarrior says:

Mission seems to be playing a level above everyone else in the southcoast league this year. Which in itself is amazing because the Southcoast league is pretty strong this year. I actually hope DH makes a game of it.

  • nosoup4yu says:

Mission will win big. Sorry, warrior-guy , Mission not quite as good as Edison, who probly wins Pac-5 title finally. That aside, congrads to DH Dolphins, a program whose star is rising in a hurry, for a great season so far.

  • HSFOOTBALLFAN says:

Mission has a great team, to win by the scores they have been winning by wow! thats a good league.look out Pac 5. Mission and Edison that would be great game if it happens

  • HSFOOTBALLFAN says:

To keeping it real, keep it real Mission has a smart Coach and staff

    • keeping it real says:

no they dont. They have a cake schedule with no true defense's. Some of the teams that play in the South Coast league the local pee wee foot ball team could beat down.

  • FB Freak says:

Come on man MV will win this game hands down. Loyola was a huge favorite and MV destroyed one of the top RB in the country! Plus Mission's JR varsity has been playing the entire second half of their games and still dominating! Too Fast! GO Mission. Cant wait for Edison vs. MV!

    • The Guild says:

Get off the dime regarding the great game against Loyola, who lost rb Anthony Barr to a broken ankle with one minute left in the first qtr! They are a very good team, but will be beat early in the playoffs when they meet a team that has played a tougher schedule and has the horses.

  • Hank says:

You can't take anything away from the MV program. I lost all respect for Coach Johnson during th ball painting incedent a couple of years ago. Dana Hills can win this game and yes consider it a huge upset if they do. The Dolphins need to execute with out mistakes and keep the Diablos from making the big plays, then we have a game.
You got to root for Dana this year. Missions total domination of the South Coast league isn't healthy.
Here is to a good clean game! Go Dolphins! It's time, so watch for the upset!

  • Pub Wisdom says:

Unlike the rest of the league, Dana should be able to at least score in this one. But that's as far as it goes. Mission rolls. And I hate Mission. Would love nothing more than an upset. But it's not going to happen. 49-21.

  • john conner says:

uhwarrior im sorry edison is the team to beat. look at the strength of schedule of mission and then look at edison's. cif will probably put them both in different brackets and they probably will end up playing eachother and edison will win cause of there dominating defense and experience of playing good teams, yes mission has a good defense but they are not playing teams like edison.

  • O.H. says:

I have seen both teams play. I have seen Edison play. Im also a former Dolphin, Dana does not stand a chance anymore than Tesoro, San Clemente or Capo did vs. Mission. Edison would not score more than 10 points vs. Mission, they are just that good this year. I really hope they do meet in the playoffs to put a end to this north county sunset league talk. I dont see the at large berth going sunset like the fryers at the OCR do. Its a very good league but not as good as trinity, serra. Good luck Dana and congrats on the best season in school history! Win or lose I am very proud to say I played ball at my alma mater

    • anonymous says:

I've seen every team and my prediction is that Dana Leads at Halftime.

At that point they need to keep themselves in balance emotionally and not let the lead get to their heads. They need to play without errors and play in the MOMENT (one quarter at a time).

That's how they'll do major damage to what people have erroneously come to believe is an unbeatable team.

  • Rick Kane says:

    Hey Magilla,
Do the Dolphins have a chance?

  • keeping it real says:

I like how you people say that MV is a classy program. Thats why they run the score up? They could kneel down like Edison does in games they have wrapped up. Edison showed their class last friday against FV. A HATED RIVAL they could have gone for 40 and put it to them but no they handed the ball off and kneeled down. MV has 0 class. People said Edison was over matched with Servite... 23-9 Victory.. Oh they cant take MD after that huge win... did it. Oh they cant beat los al... Did it with defense... oh they will be in a shoot out and lose to FV.. shut out. Who has MV played? A bunch of cupcakes from the IE? I'm sorry but Edison would surprise MV all game long. Our offense is too balanced and that weak qb of MV's would be exploited all night. The D line would be up in his grill all night. Picks galore for Edison. Sure MV is a good team but not even close. The South Coast league has 2 good teams. MV and DHHS, thats it. Sunset has 4. Edison, Valley, Los Al, and Newport. All of which didn't score over ten points on Edison. We are too balanced on Offense. We can pass for 400 yards or we can run for 300. You take away one thing we kill you with another. Im not saying an EHS/ MV final would be a blowout of MV but Edison would come way with the title and the rings. White can call any play and expect a TD against ANY defense. Our Defense has proved its worth. We held the 4th and 5th leading rushers off their averages... Middlebrooks was a non factor in the bell game. Say we have no team speed thats fine we will just drill when you go up for the ball. Edison NEVER quits. EVER... This is Edison's year.

  • keeping it real says:

And I think Dana pulls the Victory off tonight. In a close game. I'll say 28-24

  • HSfball lover says:

I really hope edison and mv make it to the finals. it would be the biggest game in OC history. go Diablos!

  • HSFOOTBALLFAN says:

To keeping it real; I really hope your team wins.Edison Coach has tons of class, wont run up the score, and he would never paint footballs.I sure hope they play each other in the finals, but alot of tough teams to beat before that happens peace

    • The Guild says:

You got it right "hsfbf" cause vwhen all is said and done, the final team standing will be Servite, after they beat MV (if they get that far) and Edison gets thru some stiff competition.

  • anonymous says:

    Dolphins, Go for it!

  • cagary says:

Is it going to be on TV?

  • keeping it real says:

MV's up 21-9. Servite vs Edison would be an insane rematch. but you cant handle us. That was NO fluke.

    • The Guild says:

Stop and listen...yes, that's the sound of the Servite juggernaut in motion. All kidding aside, White is an outstanding coach and knows how to motivate. Servite came off an emotional victory over Crespi (coach's alma mater) and didn't bring the emotion that was needed to defeat the second best team in Pac 5.
Beware of the Friars! The CIF PAC 5 Championship goes thru Servite. Nobody wants to face them, and for good reason. The sad thing for the all is that they are mostly underclassmen!

  • keeping it real says:

And Servite vs MV will happen before MV vs EHS or Servite vs EHS. We will probably get Lakewood on our side of the bracket or maybe st bonie.

  • cagary says:

    Half time score?
