Orange Coast League
COSTA MESA (6-3, 3-0) VS. LAGUNA BEACH (4-5, 3-0)
Where, when: Laguna Beach High, Friday, 7 p.m.
Outlook: These two battled for the Orange Coast title last year, and here they go again. And talk about offenses – Costa Mesa is putting up 33 a game in league, and Laguna Beach is scoring 37 a game in Orange Coast games. Laguna Beach running back Alex Jaffe has pushed himself among county leaders in rushing, with 1,266 yards (141 a game). But the Laguna Beach advantage is its passing game. Quarterback Austin Paxson has thrown for 1,615 yards, and his 23 touchdown passes is the second-most in Orange County. Receiver Chris Paul leads the county with 17 touchdown receptions, and he is fourth in receptions with 53. An effective passing game is a huge advantage in high school football.
