Here’s a prediction for Tuesday’s boys water polo playoffs:

Division I wild card

Fountain Valley (15-11) at Buena (16-9), 3:15 p.m.

Outlook: The Barons are an improved group under first-year coach Eric Perales. They also are playing some good water polo right now. They beat Edison last week for the first time in a while and captured the recent Santa Ana Valley Tournament. Buena hails from the toughest league in the division. El Modena beat Buena by double-digits in the early-season Conejo Classic but the Bulldogs have likely improved since.

Albano’s prediction: The Sunset League battles pay off for Fountain Valley, which gets its first playoff victory since 1993.
