Here's two predictions for today's boys water polo playoffs:
Division VI first round
Pacific (16-10) vs. Orange (18-10) at Chapman University, 3:15 p.m.
Ocean View (10-13) vs. Santa Ynez (15-12 ) at Lompoc Aquatic Center, 3:30
Outlook: Orange finished second to Saddleback in the Golden West League. The Panthers went 0-2 against the Roadrunners and split with Ocean View. No Golden West League team is ranked in the final divisional coaches poll. Pacific is an at-large entry from the San Andreas League, whose league champion - Cajon - is ranked 10th. The Panthers have some young talent. Grant Kelly is a junior and a scorer to watch. Ocean View, the third-place from the Golden West, has been sneaky good in first round matches the past two seasons in Division VI. Ocean View has won consecutive one-goal matches in the first round. Santa Ynez, however, finished second to Cabrillo/Lompoc in the Los Padres League. Neither Cabrillo or Santa Ynez are ranked in the divisional top-10.
Albano's prediction: Orange and Santa Ynez win
