Here’s a prediction for Tuesday’s boys water polo playoffs

Division II first round

Aliso Niguel (14-14) at  Long Beach Poly (15-12), 3:15 p.m.

Outlook: Yes, this is your match-of-the-day and OCVarsity.com will be poolside at the great Long Beach Poly High as standout goalie Bryce Sheldon and the Wolverines try to avenge an 8-5 loss to the Jackrabbits just two weeks ago. Aliso has been a consistent member of the Albano Top 25 and has played some good teams tough. The Wolverines’ lost to San Clemente, 8-5, and Santiago of Corona, 13-12. They have also battled consistency – Poly scored four goals in the fourth to beat Aliso on Oct. 27. Aliso also has dropped three consecutive games. Poly finished second in the Moore League behind LB Wilson.

Albano’s prediction: Long Beach Poly wins a close game and advances to play Villa Park in the second round.
