Costa Mesa (6-3, 3-0) vs. Laguna Beach (4-5, 3-0)
Friday, 7 p.m. at Laguna Beach High

Outlook: Is there any chance this year’s meeting can live up to last year’s clash and its thrilling ending?

The Mustangs trailed by three touchdowns after the first quarter, but rallied to a 38-30 victory that clinched the Orange Coast League title.

Costa Mesa started this season 0-2 but has won six of its past seven games.

Quarterback Todd Davis has had a productive season, completing 106 of 189 passes for 1,402 yards, 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions. His top two targets, Brian Waldron and Luis Gomez, have combined for 75 catches for 1,054 yards and eight touchdowns.

Laguna Beach opened the season 1-4.

Austin Paxson is second in the county with 23 passing touchdowns, 17 of them to Chris Paul.

Alec Jaffe has rushed for 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Breakers.

This matchup has the makings of another shootout. Who will be the last team standing?
