A look into the Division II tournament draw:

Top seeds: No. 1 Palm Desert; No. 2 Chadwick; No. 3 Santa Monica; No. 4 Santa Barbara

Best first-round matchup: El Modena-Westridge. Both teams are the No. 2 seeds from their respective leagues. El Modena has two outstanding singles players. It will be interesting to see how that matches up against Westridge, which finished behind No. 2 seed Chadwick in the Prep League.

Other story lines: This isn't a powerhouse division for county teams, which include the Sunset and Century leagues. For a county team to reach the quarterfinals would be a worthy feat.

Defending champion: Palm Desert. The school won the championship last year as the No. 4 seed, defeating No. 1 seed Santa Barbara in the semifinals. Palm Desert starts this tournament as the No. 1 seed.
